When Michael Jordan came out of retirement in 1994 his press release simply said: “I’m back.”
And while we strive for excellence just as MJ did, and we’re excited to get back to doing what we love—building boats—again, we aren’t as tough as he was! In fact, the secret of our success has always come from the fact that the health and well-being of every team member is our highest priority.
That’s why we’re returning to the shop in a smart, safe and data-driven way. Because when it comes to developing and implementing safety protocols, Boston BoatWorks has advantages that many other companies don’t have.
- We have a culture of mutual respect and caring for one another.
- We’re trained in and familiar with the use of personal protective equipment, especially respirators.
- We have an experienced safety officer whose only job is to see to the health and safety of all and institute our new safety practices.
We have an experienced and dedicated group of team leaders who communicate well with each other and with the members of their team.
And because of these advantages, we’ve been able to bring members of the team back as soon as Governor Baker anounced restrictions were lifted!
This COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all. And it will require constant vigilance to ensure the worst of it is behind us. But this crisis has also reminded us how much we love building boats together (because we missed it so much). And best of all, we’ve been shown just how much we care for our team and our customers.
So, if you are waiting for your new boat, thank you for your patience. We’ve updated our production and service schedules to reflect our required pause and are excited to get back on track so that you can enjoy your boat! And if you’re interested in a new build, please let us know. There is nothing we like talking about more than building some of the best boats in the world.
Like Michael Jordan, we’re committed to take Boston BoatWorks to the next level of excellence. And we have the dream team to do it.
