New Construction
Would you like your next boat to be built
with the same technology that created winning boats for Olympic-class
and America's Cup champions? Mark Lindsay, a pioneer in high-strength,
lightweight composite construction, moved to the technological
hub and historic boatbuilding port of Boston Harbor in 1996
and with Scott Smith founded Boston BoatWorks. Together, with
a team of 45 highly skilled boatbuilders and technicians,
they continue East Boston's tradition of building boats with
'best methods and materials' established during the mid-1800s
by Donald McKay, builder of the record setting clipper ship
Flying Cloud and many other famous sailing ships. Boston
BoatWorks' proprietary composite construction techniques and
depth of skill in cabinetry, systems and yacht finish produce
nimble, responsive and fuel efficient yachts that are exceptionally
strong and durable-meeting CE offshore requirements.
If you haven't found the boat of your dreams
on the market, call us to discuss your
project. Our experience building on-time/on-budget custom
and production cruising powerboats, all-out racing sailboats
and blue-water performance cruising sailboats gives us the
background to help you turn your dream of a perfect yacht
into a beautiful, high-performance, work of art with heirloom
durability.
Here's a selection of our new construction
projects from the last 10 years...
| MJM 34Z
- Called "one of the most imaginative and well-thought-out
boats seen in some time" by Motorboating magazine,
the 34Z (drawn by Doug Zurn at Zurn
Yacht Design) is Bob Johnstone's venture into powerboats
after his extremely successful J-boat line of sailboats.
Using a high-tech, pre-preg, vacuum-bagged oven-postcure,
epoxy/Kevlar/E-glass/Corecell construction method combined
with high-quality joinery and thoughtful systems implementation,
BBW has manufactured 53 34Z's as of August 2007. More

| MJM 29Z
- A slightly smaller version of the 34Z (but certainly
not daunted by her bigger brother!), the 29Z has multiple
cockpit options to accomodate twin outboards or sterndrive.
At 6500 lbs, the 29Z takes the fuel-efficiency of the
34Z even further by giving the owner 9 GPH at 25 knots.
All this with 6 ft headroom in the cabin! More

| Visions of Johanna
- Designer Chuck Paine brought us the opportunity to build
the hull and deck for a custom Kevlar/epoxy sailing cruising
yachts with interior and fit out to be completed by Morris
Yachts in Maine. This lovely pilothouse design based on
an IMS racing hull shape, was the most recent of several
of Paine yachts that we built this way up from 47 to 62
feet in length. More
